Can you guess who is being interviewed here

Put your guesses in the comments before you click on the link. No, it's not Regis.

Rumor has it you like Notre Dame. Is that true?

Oh yeah, that's true. I love Notre Dame. Notre Dame runs deep in my family. My dad went there and played football [there] actually. I grew up in Cleveland and I remember going to my great aunt's for Thanksgiving. She lived in Evanston, Ill., so when we were in the area, we would all go over to South Bend for Notre Dame football. Now I sit on my couch every Saturday during the season and watch them. I sit there with my fingers crossed and I sweat and say my Hail Mary's. When they lose, I'm depressed for like three days!

Seen "Rudy"?

Oh, of course. It's funny, my wife isn't really into college football but "Rudy" is one of her favorite movies. She still cries every time she watches it.

Are you able to go to any games?

Recently, my dad has reconnected with some friends that he went to school with and he has gotten to know some ex-players and some folks who work in the school. I actually had the chance to go to their game at USC. I went down to the sideline and got to meet my dad's friends and some of the players. They were so nice and treated me so well. They actually invited me to go out to as many games as I can. When my touring schedule calms down next year, I'll definitely be taking advantage of that offer and go see some Irish games.

MSNBC - First Amendment no big deal, students say

An educated populace was a goal that our forefathers believed to be impossible. That is why they set up an electoral college. They wanted to keep the ignorat masses t of the political process. After reading this report I think you will see that maybe they had the right idea.

Spongebob needs a hero. He's holding out for a hero.

And that hero is Keith Olbermann?
It is KO versus Focus on the Family.

What's next Stuart Scott against NRA

I think it would go something like This.

Scott: "Lapierre I'm going get crunk in your grill about The Brady Bill. Ya Heard? BOOYA!"

Lapierre would be unable to respond. That is how powerful Stuart's BOOYA is.

The 500 Best Songs Ever!

1. Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers – Roadrunner

97. Dexy’s Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen

What, no Thriller? I've only mad it halfway through the first hundred of this list, but it seems to be a little different. I mean they have the Screaming Trees parked at 28 without a mention of a Bruce Springsteen or Sweet Home Alabama yet song yet.

Update: 67. Bruce Springsteen – Atlantic City I don't know if this counts because I think the Band played it first. I may be wrong about that.

Update 2: I have been informed that it was indeed the Boss who originally sang A.C.. I Have received notice from the New Jersey authorities that I am not allowed to visit the Garden State. Sorry Weehawken.

Yahoo! News - A wartime inauguration with an expensive peacetime tilt

Leave no fat cat behind.

"Those events, and dozens of other inauguration-related parties, reveal a Washington that is increasingly beholden to special interests. Among the inauguration's largest underwriters are oil giant Exxon Mobil, defense contractor United Technologies and corporate takeover specialist T. Boone Pickens. If this year's inauguration follows the script of four years ago, the private-jet terminals at Washington's airports will be overwhelmed, particularly on Sunday, when corporate executives head home after schmoozing with regulators and lawmakers."

T. Boone Pickens? Any relation to Slim Pickens.

Lansing State Journal:GM health care concerns top Wagoner's worry list

DETROIT - If Rick Wagoner can't sleep at night, it could be because he's thinking about the escalating cost of health care.

General Motors Corp.'s chairman and chief executive officer said his company's health care costs worry him more than other problems, including the automaker's slipping market share and the strength of its competition.

"I don't feel good about health care costs. I don't feel good about what it does to our profitability," Wagoner said at the North American International Auto Show Sunday.

Analysts say he's got reason to fret.

Talking Points Memo: by Joshua Micah Marshall: January 02, 2005 - January 08, 2005 Archives

This is really interesting. This leaked memo shows how the conservatives are using any excuse to implement their agenda. They act like thay are reacting to new problems when in reality all they are doing is retreading the old conservative arguments that Americans have rejected for years. What's the difference now? The Republican message machine is so deafening wth its message that people can't hear when logic leaks through.

The New York Times > Arts > Television > The All Too Ready for Prime Time Players

People have been saying SNL sucks forever. That is nothing new. What this article points out is that it sucks because when you try to please everyone you usually end up pleasing no one.

Revealing quote one- "We're a big-tent show," Mr. Michaels said.

The list of this years hosts- "Meanwhile, the show's highly coveted guest-host slots now frequently go to the kind of performers - Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Janet Jackson - who seem to have arrived straight out of the pages of Us Weekly."

Sad Fact- "Ratings for "S.N.L." are as strong as ever, with this season's live broadcasts drawing from six to nine million viewers a night."

village voice > books > The Essay by Lawrence Block

To abridge or not to abridge that is the question. I for one am flexible. On a three hour car ride a nice abridgment gets you where you need to go and have nice short story to go with you. However, if the book is really good you inevitable end up feeling cheated. But, if the book really sucks you are grateful you did not have to spend anymore time than you had to. So I say abridge all the Grishams of the world as much ad you want. Just leave the good stuff alone.
